Another holiday season has closed its doors, and you find yourself examining the possibilities of a whole new year. Yes, life still has its challenges – family, job, financial responsibilities, and more, and they are not going to get any easier just because you will them to do so.
Take stock of your situation and what you’d like to get out of your life, and let me help you make that wish a reality in 2011. First, let’s examine those challenges that we cannot change: Do you have an aging parent who is changing before your eyes, or one whose health is rapidly deteriorating? Are you realizing the emotional and/or financial repercussions of caring for an ailing or aging parent? Do you have a parent who needs to be moved to another home in the coming months or year? Have you been facing conflicts with your siblings over the care of your aging or ailing parents?
Any one of these happenings can be overwhelming on its own, and yet for some among the sandwich generation, they are facing any number of these considerations in combination.
True, the strain may feel intolerable, but I urge you to seize the coming of 2011 as an opportunity for self-care. It is always difficult to see the opportunities and resolutions within our own lives; that is why we seek the expert knowledge of a specialist. My years as a rabbi and my certification as a family and caregiver mediator provide me with the knowledge and thought processes necessary to help you untangle your own familial situation.
Whatever the story, I am here to listen and to help you find richer, deeper, more meaningful solutions to life’s challenges as a member of today’s sandwich generation.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Scott
